Red CentreNATS 6 year deal to stay in Alice Springs

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Chief Minister Adam Giles today announced the Northern Territory Government in association with Summernats have finalised an agreement to ensure The Red CentreNATS will continue until 2021.

“The Country Liberals Government is proud to have secured the annual Red CentreNATS for Alice Springs and will continue to ensure that locals, entrants and competitors will want to participate year after year in the beautiful Red Centre,” Chief Minister Adam Giles said.

“I am thrilled that this event will continue for another six years and I know it’s a welcome ‘turbo boost’ for the local economy. Visitors to Alice Springs can marvel at the beauty of the desert backdrop, and enjoy the hospitality that will be front and centre in my hometown.

“This event keeps our bars, restaurants, hotels and caravan parks busy, and provides increased opportunities for tourism operators and local small businesses.

“This year has seen Harley Davidson Australia and the Harley Owners Group (HOG’S) make the trip for the first time’.”

The inaugural event last year exceeded all expectations, attracting over 450 entrants and over 13,500 spectators, with this year’s entrant numbers on track to surpass 2015.

In 2015 visitors to the Red CentreNATS provided a massive boost for local business by spending $16million during their stay.

Andy Lopez the co-owner of Summernats said “The Summernats team and I reckon the entire Aussie automotive community are rapt with today’s announcement by the NT Government that Red CentreNATS is here to stay in Alice Springs until at least 2021, and hopefully much longer.

“This year there will be even more excitement, colour and noise as around 100 bikes from the Harley Owner Groups (HOGs) rumble into town and join the Red CentreNATS for the first time.

“Harley Davidson Australia and the HOGs have joined Red CentreNATS in 2016 to deliver the Chief’s vision of the Ultimate Festival of Wheels.

“Red CentreNATS has become a fixture on the motor festival calendar, and Alice is the only place in Australia that you can bring your chromed up pride and joy, registered or not, and safely cruise the streets with your mates and family.”

Chief Minister Adam Giles said, “The success of the Red CentreNATS will only grow in size and sit alongside existing iconic Territory events such as the V8 Supercars and Fink Desert race.

“The Red CentreNATS showcases the very best in street machines, elite show cars, hot rods, classics, exotics and supercars, with something for every car enthusiast young and old.”

This years event is being staged 2 – 4 September and tickets are on sale now.
